Lights: Night Rides approacheth…

We are only a couple of weeks away from night practices, so we wanted to share some recommendations for lights. Generally, we recommend 2 lights (one mounted on your helmet, and the other mounted on you handlebars. They need to be very bright, and the battery needs to last through a practice. Our family always charges our lights right after practice so they’re ready to go before the next ride. Our setup is to have 700 lumens on our helmets and 1300 on the handlebars. There are several good brands out there and you can get good recommendations from our local shops (BikeLink, Cahaba Cycles etc). I am sending links to REI’s website; they carry the same lights we use and the happen to be on sale there through 11/21/22. Side note: we do not recommend tail lights for our trail rides since we are off-road (and the red glare is no fun to stare at when riding behind one). But if you do want to ride on the road at night they are essential.

Please let us know if you have any questions about these. Any riders from last year, if you have a light setup that you love please post info about it. Thanks!!
